Not Just Deli, in business on the 200 block of Tarrytown Road (Route 119) for the past 25 years closed on Wednesday, Aug. 29. Sleepy's Mattress and an adjoining nail salon closed down over the Labor Day weekend.
Joyce Leslie women's clothing store had closed earlier, making room for Tesla to take over two buildings owned by Simone Development Cos.
Garrett P. Duquesne, Greenburgh's Community Development and Conservation commissioner, said, "Tesla received site plan approval and a special permit for a dealership at this location and are preparing drawings for a building permit."
"I do not have any info on the relocation plans, if any, for the few businesses that last occupied the space," Duquesne told Daily Voice on Tuesday, but signs posted at the former businesses cited moves to several new locations along Tarrytown Road.
Sleepy's Mattress said he had relocated to 410 Tarrytown Road, also in Greenburgh. Gree Tree Nail Salon did not specify a new location.
Tesla plans to open a sales dealership and a delivery/customer education center in two separate buildings.
Tesla will have competition along a mile-stretch of Route 119, where there are at least four other established dealerships: Westchester BMW, Ray Catena Lexus -- which can be accessed by clicking here, as well as Kia and Volvo/Subaru
Plans discussed at a Greenburgh Town Board work session in July proposed conversion of the former Jeraci Foods distributorship in Fairview Corporate Park into a Tesla dealership and service center, which would require a zoning amendment. Simone bought the 35,000-square-foot warehouse office building -- on a 2-acre lot at 90 Fairview Park Drive -- for $5.45 million.
Another Simone-owned property, the former Joyce Leslie women's clothing story at 250 Tarrytown Road, as well as the adjoining deli, nail salon and mattress store -- will be converted into an education and delivery center. Tesla customers would pick up their new cars there, and learn about using the various features.
Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner previously told LoHud.com that he was excited about the plan, noting that the progressive green technology company will join Harbor Freight Tools, Panera Bread, Chipotle and possibly Anytime Fitness as new businesses along the Route 119 stretch.
